We introduced the world’s first digital SDR (software defined radio) TETRA coverage products at TETRA World Congress 2009 in Munich. Based on Cobham Wireless patented DSP (digital signal processing) technology our TETRA and TETRAPOL solutions provide extremely low delay and high selectivity filtering capability to enable systems to be configured precisely to the requirements of the individual public safety network and the local operating environment.
Our range of DSP (digital signal processing) TETRA and TETRAPOL digital off air repeaters provide coverage in small, medium , large and campus style buildings, inside tunnels, metros and remote or rural communities. In addition we have incorporated our industry leading frequency and band shifting technology used in cellular products into TETRA and TETRAPOL. Thus our TETRA and TETRAPOL products include the ability to extend the reach of a base station into, for example, remote or rural environments. The use of such products dramatically reduces the number of base stations needed to operate a TETRA or TETRAPOL network and thus lowers capital and operating expenditure.
Cobham Wireless’ TETRA and TETRAPOL products fully cover both bands and can be used to provide coverage by themselves or as a feeder into a DAS (Distributed Antenna System). Being software based new features and capabilities can be easily installed in the future such as support for TEDS (TETRA Enhanced Data Services). The products feature an innovative “time slot ALC” mechanism which reduces noise transmitted to the base station thus improving overall network performance and selectivity. Systems are easily configured either locally or remotely via a simple GUI web interface or using the AEM network management software and are supplied in secure, robust and weatherproof IP65 cases.
